Type your word into the search box and a drop down menu will display suggestions from Google. Here are the results for acne:

After this initial keyword research guide what is the first thing that stands out? Can you pick a theme with the keywords selected? Easily the most noticeable thing is people want to get rid of their acne. Here are the terms which tell us this:

Can you see what we are getting at here? You have your niche but are not sure how to approach it. Using this method can quickly identify the theme most dominant in this niche and which direction to head within it. And the first 10-15 results will usually give you a clue to what people are really the most interested about within a niche.
Run these through your keyword tool and start building your list. From these six terms alone you will be able to identify any number of long tail phrases which you can then begin to optimize for. This is an excellent method for article marketing in identifying those juicy long tail phrases which are extremely targeted.
